Chris let go of D.J.'s hands to clasp her upper arms tightly. He'd had enough of her "I don't believe in love" nonsense. They both could have been killed earlier. The time for prevaricating was past, the time for truth at hand. He gave her a little shake, hoping to jiggle some sense into her. "Don't call me McCall. I know you're trying to push me away when you do that, and it won't work. I'm here to stay. I know more about screwed-up minds than you think. Yours isn't so badwhen compared to my own." |

He could see the hope flickering in her eyes, the desire hovering upon her lips. They could have so much, if she'd only believe. |

She closed her eyes and turned her mouth toward his hand. Her lips touched the softer skin at the center; then her tongue flicked out and tasted him. The caress made him catch his breath against the desire surging through him. |

She turned her head, rubbing her cheek along his palm once more, and her eyes met his. He read the same desire in those eyes that tingled throughout his body. |

"Now, Christian. Make love to me now." She leaned toward him, her eyes shining bright green in the reflection from the lamplight. "Show me the difference between having sex and making love. Make me believe. I think you're the only one who can." |
